Souls, Sellouts, Scratches, & Storms

I had another busy day today.

Normally, I am quite organized. Everything on my desk is arranged just where I need it, so when I go looking for something I can find it quickly. After busting my butt all day today, do you think I could find my glasses? Nope. They were nowhere to be found. Until I looked in the mirror. Yes, it was a long day.

If you are Harry Reid, how do you get things done in Washington? You make back room deals and hide the truth as long as you can.

Democratic senators say they have a tentative deal to drop a government-run insurance option from health care legislation. No further details were immediately available.

In order for there to be details, there had to be someone willing to admit how much it took to sell their soul to the devil. You don’t really expect them to admit that, do you?

Thought #2

In light of recent exposure, I bet you thought federal funding for ACORN was dead, didn’t you?

Last night, defying the will of a bipartisan majority of the House and Senate, Democrats voted to allow the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) to receive federal taxpayer dollars.

Last night, Rep. Tom Latham (R-IA) offered an amendment during deliberations on the Democrats’ massive year-end appropriations bill to clarify the prohibition on federal funds going to ACORN or its subsidiaries. That amendment was shot down on a 5-9 party line vote as Republicans sided with taxpayers while Democrats stood with ACORN.

This is “the most open and ethical Congress in the history of the United States”, remember?

For the past few weeks, Harry Reid has made sure that the senate conducts business on Saturdays. I’m sure this interfered with more than a few Senator’s plans. I wonder what would happen if Harry Reid had plans and wanted the weekend off?

Senators and staffers watched CSPAN breathlessly from their offices Wednesday evening as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid indicated they might not have to work this weekend.

The Senate has been working at a breakneck pace (for the Senate) on the health reform legislation. Lawmakers worked all last weekend on Democrats’ health reform bill and they worked the Saturday before Thanksgiving and all signs indicated they would work this coming weekend too.

But Reid, who wants to get a healthcare bill finished by Christmas, urged Republicans on the Senate floor to forego a debate on several conference reports this weekend in order to give Senators and staffers the weekend off.

Why on Earth would Scary Harry need the weekend off? What on Earth could be more important on Harry’s ‘to-do’ list, than health care? Oh that’s right, it’s payback time. Do you remember his “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours” deal?

Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., will host a fundraiser for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., in New Orleans next month, an event that comes on the heels of Reid’s assistance getting Louisiana a windfall of Medicaid money in the health care reform bill.

It’s all about priorities, right?

Global Warming!!!

A massive storm buried much of the central United States in dangerous ice and snow Wednesday, stranding scores of motorists with massive drifts that shut down major roads and defeated plows.

Strong winds created drifts as high as 15 feet (4.6 meters) as the storm dropped as much as four feet of snow (1.2 meters) in some areas, said Pat Slattery, a spokesman for the National Weather Service.

Oh, sorry. I had a ‘Goraphobic’ moment there. I’ll recover in time for spring.

Is anyone surprised that documents related to the California Attorney General’s investigation of ACORN ended up in the trash?

The documents were thrown out in advance of state investigators arriving at the local ACORN office to conduct an investigation resulting from national media attention. ACORN employee Juan Carlos Vera was videotaped giving advice to two individuals posing as a pimp and a prostitute regarding underage prostitution and human smuggling. Without admitting any wrongdoing ACORN terminated Mr. Vera, or so they said.

To tell you the truth, I am more surprised that the Justice Department has decided that ACORN should be paid even though Congress banned the government from providing money to them.

The Justice Department has concluded that the Obama administration can lawfully pay the community group Acorn for services provided under contracts signed before Congress banned the government from providing money to the group.

The department’s conclusion, laid out in a recently disclosed five-page memorandum from David Barron, the acting assistant attorney general for the Office of Legal Counsel, adds a new wrinkle to a sharp political debate over the antipoverty group’s activities and recent efforts to distance the government from it.

That’s one hell of a wrinkle if you ask me.

Thought #2

Do you think the Obama Administration can effectively prevent an act of terrorism here in the United States? They can’t even prevent uninvited guests from shaking the President’s hand, AT THE WHITE HOUSE, what makes you think you’re safe in your home?

This time, the picture is the story.

After the Secret Service insisted that President Barack Obama was never endangered by a security breach that allowed a couple to crash his first state dinner, the White House has released a photo showing that not only did the pair get close to Obama, they actually shook hands and talked to him.

As the White House was disclosing that the Virginia couple, Michaele and Tareq Salahi, met Obama in the receiving line, a “deeply concerned and embarrassed” Secret Service on Friday acknowledged that its officers never checked whether the two were on the guest list before letting them onto the White House grounds.

ClimateGate is heating up. Pardon the pun.

Michael Mann, co-author of the Copenhagen Diagnosis and lead author of the UN IPCC Third Assessment Report, blamed skeptics for taking the personal emails out of context.

“What they’ve done is search through stolen personal emails—confidential between colleagues who often speak in a language they understand and is often foreign to the outside world. Suddenly, all these are subject to cherry picking,” he said.

This is a “smear campaign to distract the public,” said Mann. “Those opposed to climate action, simply don’t have the science on their side,” he added.

I am a programmer. I converse with many programmers. It’s true we sometimes speak our own language that many might not understand, but please understand a couple things. When we use the words “our data are surely wrong” or “our observing system is inadequate”, the words wrong and inadequate mean exactly what you think they mean.

The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t. The CERES data published in the August BAMS 09 supplement on 2008 shows there should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong. Our observing system is inadequate.

The fact that the Climate Research Unit emails have been released, whether they discredit the entire global warming / climate change argument or not, paints the entire concept of global warming as nothing but a myth perpetuated by those who sought only to take advantage of the people of the world.

Are ice caps melting? It seems so, yes. Have we noticed changes in our climate? Yes, again. Does man have any effect on the climate? So far, this newly released information says no. We’re not talking one or two emails, either. We’re talking about more than 1,000 emails, none of which support the theory of man-made global warming.

President Obama has to be the most obvious “anti-Israel” President our nation has ever seen.

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said he could “guarantee” that arch-terrorist Marwan Barghouti would not be released from prison in any deal to exchange terrorists for kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. “We have no intention to free the head of the murderers, a person who has been sentenced to four life terms in prison. There are red lines, and this is one of them,” Lieberman said.

In response to U.S. demands that Israel free an additional 1,000-some terrorists as a “gesture” to Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas, Lieberman said that previous releases of Fatah terrorists “have not proven themselves. The Olmert administration did this several times and it did not work, and we do not plan to allow it to happen,” Lieberman said.

The Obama administration demanded that Israel release Palestinian prisoners. How about we demand that Palestinians stop entering Israeli towns and blowing themselves up? How about we demand that Palestinians release Israelis they are holding? How about we demand that Palestinians show some initiative that they want peace (which we all know they don’t)?

I’ve got a better idea. Why don’t we demand that President Obama stop threatening the state of Israel by showing such obvious support to terrorists? That is not a rhetorical question.

Caught, Taught, Burned, And Spurned

I heard that President Obama gave a speech at the U.N. today. I heard a lot of other stuff too. Today was another busy day, so tonight you get more thoughts. Oh stop, you know you like them.

Thought #1

ACORN has filed suit against the team that produced the undercover videos that exposed the level of corruption inside the organization.

The liberal group contends that the audio portion of the video was obtained illegally because Maryland requires two-party consent to create sound recordings.

They fired the two employees seen on the video, and then use the fact that those two former employees have suffered from “extreme emotional distress” because of the ordeal.

Shouldn’t the employees have filed suit against ACORN for false termination or something? They were most likely doing the very thing they were trained to do in the first place.

Thought #2

Remember that video I asked about last night? You know, the one where the kids are being trained to praise the great and powerful O? Apparently it bears a striking similarity to a video produced to praise the leader of North Korea, Kim Jung Il.

And while we’re on the subject of schoolchildren, did you know some students were tested after being forced to view the President’s address to the Joint Session of Congress?

An isolated case or an example of the indoctrination taking place right now in our schools?

Thought #3

The United Nations held their yearly “lets compare the size of our…” forum again today.

Achmed I’mANutJob spoke at the gathering and delegates from Argentina, Australia, Britain, Costa Rica, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, New Zealand, and the United States walked out. My only question is, did President Obama encourage our U.N. ambassador to walk out or will he be forced to resign now?

If you missed the President’s address to the United Nations today, you really missed out on one of the most disgraceful speeches ever delivered by a U.S. President.

Frank says it best when he says,

The United Nations, mostly financed by us, is a pit of vipers striking daily at the principals for which the United States of America stands and now this “leader” apologizes. It is obvious that he places no value on the oath taken earlier this year and never intends to abide by it.

Thank you Frank.

Nancy Pelosi had decided she doesn’t need the support of Blue Dog Democrats in the debate over health care.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is planning to include in the bill a tax on wealthy Americans, as well as a more robust government-run health insurance plan (or “public option”), abandoning the compromises leaders in a key committee worked out with the moderate Blue Dog Democrats.

Mrs. Pelosi is going to need some more Botox injections if she keeps stretching her mouth so much from inserting her foot. She didn’t have the votes with their support, let alone by walking away from them.

Thought #5

Bad form, Sarah. Bad form. It’s one thing to criticize the sitting U.S. President on American soil, but it’s hardly something that should be done while standing in a foreign land.

Whether you agree with the current administration or not, you don’t set up your soapbox on foreign soil and bash the President of the United States, no matter how legitimate those criticisms are.

As a staunch supporter of yours, I am quite disappointed. Like I said, bad form, Sarah.

Thought #6

The IRS dumped ACORN today. Wow. How bad do you suck if the IRS wants nothing to do with you?

That’s it for tonight. I’m off to read a book on the Kindle for iPhone app. You won’t believe how much I’ve been reading since I got that iPhone.

Patriotism is easy to understand in America. It means looking out for yourself by looking out for your country.

All We Need Now Are The Monkeys

The great and powerful O has spoken.

I just don’t get it. Why isn’t the mainstream media calling out the President, his administration, and his supporters for the garbage they are spewing on a daily basis?

First, it was the Van Jones debacle. Well, that wasn’t really a debacle, it was a well planned, carefully executed slap to the face of every American. Where was the media? From the moment evidence surfaced that he was nothing more than a radical communist who advocated a total revolution in America, the media should have been all over the story. As you know, they weren’t.

So where were they? Even after the scandal broke and all of the evidence (in his own words, via videos available online) was uncovered, how did mainstream media handle the story? They reported that he was a ‘9/11 truther’ and that he called the Republicans a bad name. That’s it. No mention whatsoever of his radical beliefs, his desire for total anarchy in America, or the fact that all of the evidence against him came out of his own mouth.

Because of that whole mess with Van Jones, or the lack thereof on their part, it didn’t really surprise me when the mainstream media missed the boat on the ACORN sting videos either.

On September 10th the first ACORN video surfaced. ACORN employees in the Baltimore office were caught on video talking with the undercover couple about smuggling young girls into the country for the purpose of prostitution. They even helped the couple learn how to evade paying taxes.

Many people may have thought this video was a one time deal, and in light of that fact, maybe, just maybe, it could have slipped under the radar of the mainstream media. But what about the second video from Washington, D.C? Or the third from New York City?

By now even the most cynical person can see the pattern of corruption at ACORN. Apparently it wasn’t enough for the mainstream media, however, which still wasn’t convinced there was a problem that needed reporting.

I thought for sure, the fourth video from San Bernadino, California would have been “the one” because it dealt with Child Prostitution as well as a “self-defense killing”. Surely these topics would garner the interest of the mainstream media honchos, but on September 15th, Charlie Gibson, the anchor the ABC World News Tonight said he hadn’t even heard of the ACORN scandal.

On September 16th, after the Census Bureau had already terminated their agreement with ACORN and the U.S. Senate had voted to defund them, their chief executive, Bertha Lewis, announced that they were suspending operations and were no longer going to advise new clients until an independent review was completed.

Since that announcement (which also drew very little attention from anyone in the mainstream media), the fifth video from San Diego was released and the U.S. House voted to cut all funds to ACORN.

So where was the mainstream media? Why are they still failing to report it today? Oh sure, some of them have mentioned the scandal, a couple have even discussed the videos. Of course, when doing so you hear words like ‘entrapment’ and other phrases that place the blame for the whole mess on the two people who went undercover to expose the corruption in the first place.

Isn’t that what reporters used to do? Isn’t this the kind of thing the mainstream media is supposed to do? The President announced this weekend that he won’t commit to cutting federal funds from ACORN, and no one is calling him on this either!

What else is the mainstream media going to try to ignore? How bad do things have to get, and how much information has to be released before the mainstream media stops what they are doing to look at what’s really going on?

Maybe they’ll ignore the fact that the White House is using the National Endowment for the Arts to fund political propaganda? Maybe they’ll turn a blind eye to the fact that President Obama has done a 180 on his position and is ready to extend three crucial provisions of the Patriot Act?

There used to be a time when politicians would speak up and expose those who were acting in a manner that was detrimental to our country. There used to be a time when they were willing to do the right thing by exposing the corruption among them and we could trust that those we sent to Washington would actually work to make our country a better place.

There used to be a time when the mainstream media questioned those in our government and kept them on their toes. But these days, however, with the leadership of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid on the Hill, sending politicians to Washington gets us nowhere and asking someone in the mainstream media to do their job is less successful than sending a flock of flying monkeys out to grab a little girl and her dog.

PS: My apologies to the departed Margaret Hamilton for defacing her image in such a way, but I had a point to get across.

Saturday Night Short

It’s been a busy week, so I think I am going to take the night off from any in-depth post and just relax and eat some hard boiled eggs.

This morning I received an email from a reader that was awesome. It turns out I have a lot more local readers than I thought I did, so welcome everyone, thanks for spending part of your day with me.

This afternoon we met the that same reader at the library and we chatted about a bunch of stuff. We stood out in the rain for half an hour talking about the economy, the state of our country, and most importantly, farm fresh eggs, which she was so nice to bring with her. They are delicious and I appreciate her family’s generousity.

In an effort to relax as much as possible today, I spent several hours building the two “iPhone stands” you see in the photos that accompany this post. I had some scrap wood laying around, but I didn’t have enough so we stopped at Wal-Mart on our way home from the library. I spent a whopping $5 in supplies.

The vertical stand will be used during the week while I am concentrating on Aria Interactive, and the horizontal stand will be used while I watch video podcasts, news videos, and the occasional movie.

I haven’t decided what I am going to focus on this coming week, but with the ACORN votes that took place, I thought it would be fun to look at all the politicians who voted to keep funding them. After all of the news this past week about ACORN, 7 Democratic Senators and 75 Democratic Congressmen couldn’t find enough backbone to stand up and say enough is enough. I wonder how many of them have ties to ACORN? I wonder how many of them have ties to companies or other people who have ties to ACORN? Who knows, we may just find out next week.

That’s it for tonight, sorry there wasn’t more to this post,. After the intense review of the health care bill and then analyzing the bile spewed by President Obama I need a day or so to decompress and start fresh again. If there’s something you’re concerned about, or you want me to cover something of interest, let me know. You can contact me with the link at the top of the page.

The Indictable Barack Obama?

The following information may come as a complete shock to you, especially if you don’t normally pay attention to blogs and rely solely on the mainstream media for your daily dose of politics. Then again, if you relied solely on the MSM, you wouldn’t be reading this right now, would you?

Four months ago, Tony Rezko, a political fundraiser, restauranteur, and real estate developer in Chicago, was convicted on several counts of fraud and bribery. Tony Rezko is heavily involved in Chicago politics and was instrumental in the campaigns of Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and U.S. Senator Barack Obama. If you have followed political news at all, I am sure you have heard Rezko’s name mentioned in the same sentence with Barack Obama’s more than a time or two.

Rezko has had numerous troubles with the law, and it seems now that he has been convicted he has decided to start singing to the federal authorities in hopes of a lighter sentence. It’s obvious that Rezko knows a lot of secrets within Chicago politics and apparently the information he has is pretty good. If the information he had didn’t contain red meat, I don’t think the feds would be wasting their time sitting down with him. He’s already been convicted, why should they cut him a deal now?

PUMA Pundit has a complete rundown of the information on Rezko’s ties to Broadway Bank and how Barack Obama’s name is connected to Rezko in more ways than one.
