I had another busy day today.
Normally, I am quite organized. Everything on my desk is arranged just where I need it, so when I go looking for something I can find it quickly. After busting my butt all day today, do you think I could find my glasses? Nope. They were nowhere to be found. Until I looked in the mirror. Yes, it was a long day.
If you are Harry Reid, how do you get things done in Washington? You make back room deals and hide the truth as long as you can.
Democratic senators say they have a tentative deal to drop a government-run insurance option from health care legislation. No further details were immediately available.
In order for there to be details, there had to be someone willing to admit how much it took to sell their soul to the devil. You don’t really expect them to admit that, do you?
In light of recent exposure, I bet you thought federal funding for ACORN was dead, didn’t you?
Last night, defying the will of a bipartisan majority of the House and Senate, Democrats voted to allow the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) to receive federal taxpayer dollars.
Last night, Rep. Tom Latham (R-IA) offered an amendment during deliberations on the Democrats’ massive year-end appropriations bill to clarify the prohibition on federal funds going to ACORN or its subsidiaries. That amendment was shot down on a 5-9 party line vote as Republicans sided with taxpayers while Democrats stood with ACORN.
This is “the most open and ethical Congress in the history of the United States”, remember?
For the past few weeks, Harry Reid has made sure that the senate conducts business on Saturdays. I’m sure this interfered with more than a few Senator’s plans. I wonder what would happen if Harry Reid had plans and wanted the weekend off?
Senators and staffers watched CSPAN breathlessly from their offices Wednesday evening as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid indicated they might not have to work this weekend.
The Senate has been working at a breakneck pace (for the Senate) on the health reform legislation. Lawmakers worked all last weekend on Democrats’ health reform bill and they worked the Saturday before Thanksgiving and all signs indicated they would work this coming weekend too.
But Reid, who wants to get a healthcare bill finished by Christmas, urged Republicans on the Senate floor to forego a debate on several conference reports this weekend in order to give Senators and staffers the weekend off.
Why on Earth would Scary Harry need the weekend off? What on Earth could be more important on Harry’s ‘to-do’ list, than health care? Oh that’s right, it’s payback time. Do you remember his “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours” deal?
Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., will host a fundraiser for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., in New Orleans next month, an event that comes on the heels of Reid’s assistance getting Louisiana a windfall of Medicaid money in the health care reform bill.
It’s all about priorities, right?
A massive storm buried much of the central United States in dangerous ice and snow Wednesday, stranding scores of motorists with massive drifts that shut down major roads and defeated plows.
Strong winds created drifts as high as 15 feet (4.6 meters) as the storm dropped as much as four feet of snow (1.2 meters) in some areas, said Pat Slattery, a spokesman for the National Weather Service.
Oh, sorry. I had a ‘Goraphobic’ moment there. I’ll recover in time for spring.
