Two Hundred Thirty Three Years Ago…

FireworksHappy Fourth Of July! On this day in 1776, the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Continental Congress announcing the separation of our 13 original colonies from Great Britain. Throughout our country’s history, many brave men and women have stepped up to protect our freedom, and we should be grateful that we live in such a wonderful country. While many of us spent the day cooking our favorite foods on the grill, we need to remember that America is the home of the free, because of the brave.

I spent an hour this morning speaking to a potential new client. We had a great conversation and although our conversation went off on several different tangents, we did discuss a few business items. I look forward to working with him. The project will include the re-design of his current business website and I am excited about it because he’s involved in an industry I haven’t worked with much from a web design perspective.

The kids decided the menu for dinner tonight, so they took me to the local grocery store to purchase all of the ingredients for salad, country style pork ribs, hot dogs, chips, chili, and a watermelon. My mom and sister came over and we all had a great time. They brought some desserts that we all enjoyed, and within minutes of them leaving we realized we never had any watermelon. I suppose we’ll be slicing into it tomorrow sometime.

After running Spinrite on the drive twice, I was unable to recover any data from it. I am going to try one more thing in the morning and if that does not work I will resume coding from my previous backup point, which I realized is a full two days behind schedule. You just have to love the timing of a dying hard drive (especially when you never realized it was dying until it was too late).

Although I feel as stuffed as a Thanksgiving turkey, tonight I am off to eat some ice cream and find another good movie. More tomorrow…
